I have been working as a project leader of Sophia Racing since last September. After the F-SAE West Competition in June, we have participated in many test drives to complete our car. On test drives, many troubles such as crashes, engine blow, and overheating had occurred. Every time these troubles occurred, we have found the cause and tried to solve them, which enabled us to compete in the competition in our best condition. I feel that the team members who have went through this cycle without giving up has gained something important.

I truly feel that if it had not been for the team members, who have been building the car, the drivers, who have fully brought out the best performance of the car, graduates of Sophia Racing, who have built up the tradition of the team, people from the techno centre, who have responded to our stiff requests with sincerity, our sponsors, who have supported our activities, and all the other people who have supported us in all kind of ways, we could not have been able to achieve what we have achieved.

Thank you very much for supporting us for a whole year.
From now on, we would like to aim for the top of the world by building a good car for the Formula Student in England, which is also the second FISITA World Cup.
Please keep on supporting Sophia Racing's activities.

Congratulatory message

On 16th September, Sophia University stood at top of Formula SAE Japan Competition at Shizuoka Ecopa!
By looking at the results of events like Autocross and Presentation, it seemed obvious for Sophia University to end in a high place, but frankly, I was surprised to know that Sophia University had won.
Looking back at last August, when I visited Sophia Racing's website to see the past cars and results in order to support the team, I was surprised to see traction control and the appearance of cowl made of epoxide resin, which reminded me of F1, and it was hard to believe that the car was made by students.

On test drives, Sophia Racing's car was extremely fast and stable, and I was starting to expect that the team might be able to win this year. On the other side, I was a little worried to see the oil leak.

On the competition, I was impressed to see them swap cars with the other teams to drive other cars, to see the characteristics of other team's cars. I heard that the team is planning to go to Formula Student and Formula SAE, and I would like the team to do their best to be able to become a model team as a Japanese champion.

To Sophia Racing

Congratulations on winning the 4th FSAE Japan competition.

We are glad to hear that your team has become the FSAE Japan Champion since we were expecting a good result because your team has achieved your goal to become 10th place in the FSAE West competition at California's Fontana Circuit in June.

In the FSAE West Competition, we were stimulated by your young teamwork and attitude towards winning. I hope the presentation to the American staffs of TRD-USA had been a good experience. I really want to congratulate on your being the Japan Champion for the 2nd time since the first Japan competition in 2003. Please keep on bracing yourselves with an aggressive goal.

TRD (TOYOTA RACING DEVELOPMENT) U.S.A. ,Inc. Vice President
Mr. Takeuchi Kazuo

To the members of Sophia University's Sophia Racing, congratulation on your victory in the Japanese Competition.

,e-SAE is an event that aims for the students to experience a small car manufacturer or a racing team, and enable them to become a skilled person. That is not just in the field of manufacturing, but also of general affairs, advertisement, and external affairs. By aiming for a victory in the events of each field, the students can gain advanced skills to accomplish goal s, technical knowledge, and teamwork.

I believe that this team is one of the few teams that brought this aim to a reality, with a high standard. Sophia Racing is a magnificent team, form the very beginning, as represented by their justified attitudes towards research and development, independence, ambition and challenging spirit that can be described as mavericks in a good way.

I believe that the magnificent mavericks, Sophia Racing will be able to conquer the world, and I truly hope that it will be soon.

To the team members of Sophia Racing, congratulation on your win!

It has been 8 years since I first participated in Formula SAE. Looking back from now, when I began participating in F-SAE (I was the only one from Sophia. I decided to participate because I could go to USA if I did), the car was way off the trend, and for the car to evolve into something like SR05, there must have been a large amount of decisions and effort.

In our first try at Detroit in 2000, I was in charge of driving, most of the reports and events. I was completely in the dark in the preparation process, and I got to know what the event was like in the actual competition. We became 28th despite of that, and according to the magazine Car Graphic, that was because 'Each of the members knew exactly what they were supposed to do, and the teamwork was good'. The present team can score high on events like presentation and design, has language skills and planning skills, and I can feel the teamwork that can make use of the abilities of each members. I would like you to keep on storing data, and passing on your techniques to the later generations.

I remember talking in the back of the pits with the team mates from the joint team, that it would be great if there we could do a competition in Japan, when there were more teams in Japan. I can't tell exactly who it was that first seeded it, but if this was our first seed, it has grown this much, and on top of that, it is truly great that Sophia Racing Team was the one to win. I wish that you will keep on being the team to represent Japan.

Congratulations on being the Japan Champion again!

It is wonderful that you were able to experience and make memories of what normal students cannot go@through. You can surely make use of this experience when you go out to society, and it will leave intense impact as a memory of the schooldays.

When I look back now, there were no goods and money when things all started. A desire to compete in the world was our only support. Now that your team has become Japan Champion twice and 11th place on FSAE West, I am proud to be the old boy of the team. Praising the effort of my junior students, I want to appreciate everyone who had supported our team until now. Thank you very much.

However, being a Japan Champion is nothing but a passing point. I consider it is natural to be a champion in Japan. It must be remembered that the world is your target. I want you to be the world champion. This is my wish since our team started. Always keep in mind to continue handing down juniors the gratitude towards sponsors, and they are part of the team to compete with the world.
