Cost event is an event which precisely allocates the cost of the car itself, and the cost of which it took to manufacture the car (for example, $0.14 per centimeter for welding, and $35/hr per person for a labor expense.)

Budget and Cost event is an event which aims to teach the participants that these are the important factors when considering productive activity. The Car must be manufactured under $25,000. Therefore, each participating team member must be not only a good engineer, but also a manufacturer and needs to have management skills. Obviously, teams with low cost can get high points. In the competition, the cost written in the report which was submitted beforehand and the car's adequateness will be judged while looking at the car.

Reduce significant number of flames

Compared with last year's car, it was possible for us to reduce significant number of flames by measuring and analyzing the data. When explaining about our car to the judge, we were able to get good reaction by comparing last year's and current year's frames.

Also, oral examination of manufacturing process of two random generally purchased parts is given to evaluate one's knowledge and understanding level of those parts. Oral examination of the manufacturing process of rag nut and throttle body was given this year.

Be planning to get higher scores

Takayama YumikoWe were a little troubled by the judge's question, but we were able to explain the manufacturing process smoothly. Consequently, we got 61.4points out of 100points which was 16th place.

In the next competition, we are planning to get higher scores by preparing a panel of manufacturing cost beforehand and by devising how to show them to the judge.
