Power-Train Team
The Power-Train Team has various optimization know-how. For the induction system, we conduct self-made simulation and decide figures that can accomplish the best packing efficiency. Also, by conducting fluid analysis with CFD software and flow test with flow bench, we keep the pressure drop at the minimum level.
We have adopted the dry-sump system, which is essential to a racing car, and by doing this, we were able to lower the centre of gravity and also keep a stable oil temperature, which enhanced the engine power. We changed the control system to a racing-type ECU (MoTeC), conducted bench check test, and make control-logic for every cylinder.
As the revision along the variety of ambient temperature and engine temprature, We optimize the correct required air-fuel ratio by feedback controling with LAF sensor.
Moreover, by calculating the difference of spins of the front and the rear tires, we can put traction control into practice to reduce the stress of the drivers.
Chassis Team
We use Pro/Engineer for all designing. By calculating load on each parts and conducting stress analysis, we aim to do the best design and also lighten the weight by even few grams. For the underbody, we use our self-made driving simulation software that enables us to decide the appropriate figures, which makes an ideal drive possible.
Also, by logging data on actual drives by using self-made stroke sensor, roger system, acceleration and GPS sensor etc. and reflecting the data to the car, we can build a car with both performance and safety, which no other team can make. We always keep in mind light-weight and low centre if gravity which are the basic philosophies of a racing car, and at the same time, we also think about the safety of the driver.
Aero-Dynamics Team
We, Cowl Team aim to lighten weight and reduce cost by using carbon, which is light-weight and high-intensity and is essential to racing cars, for the FRP, and also by collaborating with the Power-Train and the Chassis Team to make induction systems, cooling systems, panels, etc. The fabrication technology of CFRP (Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic) has kept on improving every year, which enabled us to design more freely, with lighter weight. The technology of the Cowl Team is not only put into practice by the Cowl Team but also by other teams to make various parts.
