Our Team
Our Aim
Sophia Racing participates in Formula-SAE which is a racing competition for students. Through that, get to learn the essence and the process of manufacturing, and also aim to create an environment where we can feel the severeness, amusingness and joy of manufacturing and team management. We aim to train talents that can compete in the actual society.
Team Structure
Currently, we have a project leader and three team leaders form the manufacturing team, and one from the management team as a center of the team. We have around 20 members.
What we do
For our activity, with the backup from Sophia University Faculty of Science and Technology, Department of Mechanical Engineering at Thermal Engineering Lab, we have been offered a part of the laboratory. There, where we conduct our operations, we receive technical advices from the laboratory and do activities like building frame and tuning engine.
We also use the CAD room of the university and design each parts using 3D CAD software (Pro/Engineer). We also collect sponsors, participate in exhibitions and open campus.
Sponsors
Many materials, parts, and a large amount of funds are needed to build a car. In order for corporations to understand and support our activities, we are doing activities to gain sponsors. By actually meeting with the people form corporations and negotiating with them, we believe that we, as students, are able to gain negotiating skills that can be put into use in the actual society. Our current sponsors are wide in range; car manufacturer, manufacturer of each parts of the car, and Makers of Analysis soft wares.
To corporations who have become our sponsors, we send a monthly activity report and also report on each competition. We put introductions, company logos of our sponsors on our website and the vehicle.
Talents we look for
We look for the people who always are ambitious and tries to make themselves better.
By participating in the team activities, the members can gain experiences such as manufacturing, negotiating with corporations, participation in overseas competitions, etc. We are looking for people who can raise their skills through those experiences.
Fulfillment more than the actual achievement
Sophia Racing believes that the senses of fulfillment between the individuals are as important as the actual achievement in the competitions. The experience of building a racing car is very uncommon is an everyday life, and therefore is a very valuable experience. Behind that valuable experience, there are many time and effort. There may be hard times, where we can not achieve so well.
However, we would like to do activities where these time and effort would lead to confidence and good influence when each member look back to themselves in their future.
